Ten Words You Need To Stop Misspelling: From The Oatmeal

I came across this infographic from The Oatmeal. Please note I did not intend for any copyright infringement. This infographic was not created by me… at all. Nothing, nada, zip, zilch can be attributed to my uber creative brain that resides in my head. Enjoy and feel free to affirm I’m not the only one to autocorrect people in my head when the mistakes below are made. ;)

I chuckled reading the way they describe those words.. :-) I’ve seen the lose/loose variation used incorrectly so many times!

Awesome – seriously, why don’t they teach it this way on school?

Good stuff. I read ‘bare’ instead of ‘bear’ often and can empathize.

Okay, I’m going to admit it: I use ‘alot.’ I had an English teacher who docked points for ‘alot,’ and I stuck to her Nazi grammar rules through high school and college. I realize I’m probably hurting myself now. Who am I to rebel against the English language regarding slang words that have been integrated and slang words that haven’t? ‘Already,’ ‘alright,’ and ‘always’ have been acknowledged. Though there is no ‘all’ in the origins of ‘a lot,’ it’s this minion’s opinion that spelling it the way it’s now pronounced would produce happiness and bliss–maybe even world peace and the reclamation of global resources! (Are you buying this yet?)

Anyway, I’ve said it. I feel at peace. And, yes, I do avoid using the word ‘alot/a lot’ altogether (all together?) when querying. That way rejections are due to my amazing ability to misspell some other silly word. :P
